Top 7 Home Improvement Expense Recommendations

Top 7 Home Improvement Expense Recommendations

The best recommendations for your Home Improvement Expenses!

We’re all looking for effective money saving strategies.

Home improvement projects and renovations don’t need to drive you into debt. As the cost of materials and labor rises, it’s increasingly difficult to keep your next project under budget.

For 7 tried-and-true tips concerning how you can save money on your home improvement bills, keep reading…

1. Go for the small jobs.

Small jobs like a quick coat of paint or refinishing a floor can actually have a major positive impact on your home and often offer a much higher return on your investment than, say, refinishing a wall or installing a brand new floor.

Look for maintenance repairs instead of waiting for your home improvements to break down. A good example would be your heating system. Do not wait until it breaks down because it could cast thousands of dollars to buy a brand new one versus monthly maintenance tune-ups that could cost your less in the long run and future.

I am from Hawaii, but I have a lot of family in CA. If you want the best Sacramento heating and air company that I know for the best affordable price, I definitely recommend my uncle around those parts.

2. Always work with what you have first.

Instead of breaking the bank with new materials, always try to work with what you already have. Remember, power washing, sanding and re-staining a porch can make it look great again and for a lot less than it would cost to build a completely new one.

3. Get three quotes.

When hiring a contractor or any laborer, shop around for at least three quotes. Give each contractor the exact same job requirements and request a detailed, outlined quote in writing that gives you a thorough breakdown of every job or item.

From there, you can compare your options and get a much more realistic and accurate viewpoint of the marketplace and your pricing possibilities.

4. Measure twice, cut once.

The “measure twice” mantra is a carpenter’s classic, but it applies to almost every home improvement job. From fitting new pipes to installing a marble countertop, make sure you know your material requirements inside and out before you even buy it, let alone cut it.

5. When hiring a professional, get references.

Before you sink your money into a contractor who may not deliver, do your homework and hire smart. Ask prospective contractors for examples of their past work or portfolio and the contact information for satisfied customers who would be willing to give them a reference.

A smart consumer will also check with their state’s licensing board and Better Business Bureau to make sure their contractor doesn’t have any outstanding warranted complaints or lawsuits against them.

6. Try to reuse old or salvaged materials.

You don’t necessarily need to tap into your investments to upgrade your home. Someone’s old bathtub could be your antique dream. Check salvagers, scrappers, flea markets, and even antique shops for unique items that can be salvaged and reused.

For example, old tile can easily be located for a fraction of the price and often offers a one-of-a-kind feeling that’s almost priceless.

Why technology isn’t good for our stress levels.

It has been found out that being online can make someone depressed.

Nowadays everyone is on the internet, especially social media. There are people that cannot live without social media. Many surveys have shown that internet addicts have a positive correlation with the number of hours on the web and their feelings for sadness, isolation, depression, and alienation. The internet doubles the chances of a person being depressed.

When you communicate in person you are saying what you truly feel right at that moment. When you socialize over phone there is a part of sarcasm or sincerity that it hidden within. It has been found that when you have a lot of friends on facebook that you will be even sadder. Your stress level will be really really high. You will have issues with your real life relationships. So if you really care about social media you should consider holding back a little bit. Stop living life through your phone and start living it in front of you face. Start talking and meeting new people and new opportunities.

The internet has given us the ability to jump from task to task. We makes these jumps about every two minutes. Muli-tasking refers to getting caught in mental doldrums between interrupting and restarting. Multi-tasking, in a sense, can reduce one’s ability to pay attention at all. This reduces the ability to truly think critically and problem solve. Your ability to recall memories starts to deteriorate, studies have shown. You IQ also reduces. The more you mulit-task the more you are harming your brain. The greater the cognitive damage becomes and the harder it is for you to recover. The mostly begins in childhood.

The internet continues to take over your brain. It needs to be handy for you at all times. Social media sites are the setting standard for digital nicotine. They do the right things to get the users to come back every day. It makes you want to do it again and again, until you do not even know what hit you. However, you will do everything in your power to feel that way one more time. This is called addiction.

It might be as damaging as hard core drugs, but it does damage the memory part to your brain. So maybe limit your time online may be better.

The keyword here is moderation.

9 Most Common Dreams and There Meaning

9 Most Common Dreams and There Meaning

Dreams about flying, showing up to school or work with no pants, and being chased occur so often that they are almost clichéd.

Despite how normal they seem, these dreams may be your mind’s way of sending you a message. The following dream interpretations may help enlighten you on what message your subconscious is trying to relay.

Being Chased
The sensation of being chased while dreaming could mean that you feel threatened of what is chasing you. It is important to know who or what is chasing you and how that could be symbolic to your life.

If you are being chased but can’t run as fast as you want, this could represent the lack the self-esteem or confidence needed to achieve your goals.

There are several ways death can be present in a dream. It may represent a symbolic end or “death” to something, but it does not by any means signify an actual imminent death. To dream you have died could represent that you are experiencing major changes in your life.

By contrast, it may also be a symbolic meaning that a person or relationship is depressing or hindering you. Dreaming of a loved one dying means they provide a quality you lack in your relationships. It may also signify that person is no longer a part of your life.

Feeling frightened while falling in your dream suggests that you have no support or control over a problem in your life.

You may be feeling disappointed for not achieving your goals. Falling backwards in your dream symbolizes you have stopped yourself from making a bad decision or that you are not ready for something.

If you have no fear or anxiety while falling, this indicates that you will easily push through your struggles.

Dreaming that you are naked suggests you are afraid of being exposed. Trying to cover up yourself in the dream could mean that you are attempting to hide your vulnerability.

The meaning behind a dream where you are flying could mean various things depending on the height, speed, and direction. To dream about peacefully gliding through the air represents a sense of control and direction in your waking life.

Being capable of flying represents liberty and freedom which promises an escape from external stressors and struggles. While flying in your dreams is usually a pleasant experience, having anxiety while flying implies that you fear change.

Tests/ Testing

Taking a test in a dream could relate to being evaluated on something in your life. Similar to real life, not knowing the answers might make you feel nervous.

You are most likely worried about an upcoming interview or exam which you feel unprepared for and incompetent. Lacking confidence and having a fear or failure is often the root to most test-taking dreams.

Falling Teeth

The implication of this common dream is often debated. Falling teeth may be affiliated with vanity, communication, embarrassment, powerlessness, health, death, money, or deception.

Whichever topic most applies to your life is something you would know best. There are various theories and legends that suggest what this dream could mean.

Researchers have found that this dream occurs more frequently the older you get, which could suggest fear and anxiety about aging.

Dreams about cheating are often so alarming and discomforting that you continue to feel betrayed by your partner when you wake up. Despite the vividness of the dream, it doesn’t necessarily mean your partner is cheating on you.

Other problems such as feeling neglected or self-conscious in your relationship often lead to these dreams. Having trust issues or a fear of abandonment also factor into why this dream occurs. Sometimes, although it is very seldom, this dream might reveal that your partner is actually cheating on you and your subconscious is communicating the hints and indications it has picked up on.

Being the cheater in such dream could refer to another area in the relationship where you could be mentally or emotionally “cheating”. It does not automatically mean that you are seeking another partner or relationship, however if could signify the desire for something that you feel is missing in your relationship.

Dreams are so mysterious and enigmatic that it is difficult to understand their purpose. While finding deep significance in dreams is interesting, it is important to remember how little information there is on dreams and the subconscious.

We must keep in mind that our dreams are, in fact, just dreams and we mustn’t put too much emphasis on them.

Is Disneyland Over-rated?

Have you been to Disneyland yet?

Nowadays, finding out that someone you know has never been to Disneyland is not only shocking but also heartbreaking. To know that someone has never walked along Main Street or taken a picture with his or her favorite character is a modern-day tragedy.

But looking back, is that person really missing out on the fatiguing journey that seems to slip our minds at the happiest place on earth?

Arguably the most frustrating aspect of Disneyland is the amount of people there.

Wherever you go it seems as if a massive crowd is always following you. Not to mention that the abundance of people results in hour-long lines for two-minute rides.

Dodging bulky strollers and large groups of people becomes utterly exhausting after 30 minutes and once you factor in the possible weather conditions, especially heat, waiting in line at Disneyland could seem like agonizing torture.

Not only are there far too many people at Disneyland, but there also happens to be the worst people around. Every type of obnoxious person is present. There are the impolite teenagers who bump into you without apologizing, mobs of clueless families unknowingly taking up too much space, spoiled children who throw tantrums in the middle of your pathway, rude employees, and so much more.

Another annoyance apart of the Disneyland experience is how excessively overpriced everything is.

A one-day park hopper ticket is $169, not including food, drinks, and/or merchandise.

The accumulated cost of the aforementioned items are so expensive that, if you were to visit Disneyland and California Adventure for one day, you might have to set aside around $200- $300 to pay for items that you want, not including your ticket.

Since the food is so expensive, it would be safe to assume that you are eating high-quality cuisine, right? Wrong. Along with being ridiculously overpriced, most of the meals at Disneyland are nothing spectacular.

In addition, even the limited selection of entrées that are actually good are remarkably more expensive than their other mediocre meals.

Reading this list may compel you to think negatively of Disneyland. However, there is a reason why people from all around the world pay an absurd amount of money, wait in lines which seem to have no end, and put up with the annoying people there.

There is something to be said about the whimsical adventure that is being at Disneyland.

The fact that it is superior to University Studios and Six Flags is undeniable.

Although it may be somewhat overrated or glorified, Disneyland will forever be a place where your inner child can flourish. It might not be worth the money, but you can truly see the amount of effort and detail that Disney puts into its amusement parks.
