Affordable Christmas Gifts

The holiday season is probably the most economically strenuous time of the year. However, there are a lot of ways to come across inexpensive Christmas gifts.

Build It

If you’re crafty or have any unique talents, you can make a gift. For instance, if you weave you can make the recipient a pair of mittens. If you’re a closet poet or jingle writer, write a limerick or song about the person. Sing or read the song or poem and have the original framed.

Coupon

A hand made coupon book may be a a welcomed X-Mas present idea. Make individual coupons for doing odd jobs, organizing, and clean-up for the recipient. You might propose to organize their pictures into albums, do a week’s worth of dishes, or clean their vehicle. If the recipient is a husband or wife you might offer passionate pleasures such as foot rubs and date nights. A certificate book can be made by printing off blank certificates that can be located on the Internet and bound with staples or string.

Gift Baskets

If you’re shopping for a gift for an entire family, and don’t have an idea what they like, a gift basket might be the best answer. You can fill a reasonably priced basket with homemade cookies or muffins, packs of coffee, coffee mugs, and fresh fruit. You may also want to consider garden decor gifts such as birdhouses, bird feeders, or outdoor sculptures. A youngster may enjoy a gift basket filled with toys from the convenience store. Some ideas might include crayons, bouncy balls, jump ropes, balloons, vivid windmills, small stuffed animals, play dough, and sweets.

Teen girls may like a gift basket consisting of burettes, clips, combs, lip gloss, mascara, and a magazine or two. A new mother may like a bath accessory set consisting of pampering bath salts, body creams, and lotions. If you can, include a gift certificate to a health spa, beauty salon, or a specialty shop. The key thing is that you incorporate thoughtful X-Mas present ideas that take into consideration what the recipient likes.

Treasure Chests

Children enjoy getting treasures, so why not offer them a treasure trunk? This X-Mas present idea is pretty basic and you can include things from discount stores, online stores, and even your own closet. First, locate a trunk with a safety lid. It could be a decorated plastic container, cardboard box, or a real chest. Then, select a theme. If your theme is dress-up, you can fill the trunk with bracelets, hats, old clothes, play batons and swords, shoes, ribbons, and pendants. Other theme ideas are pirates, royalty, knights, sports, astronauts, or aliens.

So, with a little thought you can come up with original X-Mas present ideas that are quite low priced. All it takes is a small amount of research to find out what the persons interests are, if you don’t already know what they are, and a trip to the nearest convenience store. Don’t forget, it’s the thought that counts.
