Problem Child Behaviour - My Child Doesn’t Listen To Me

It can be very frustrating when kids seem to disregard a parent when they are asked to do a task, or given some child discipline for bad behavior. Many parents find that children tune them out when they give them instructions. In fact, it is easy for parents to take this personally. The problem is not necessarily disobedience or bad child behavior issues, even though it appears that way. This article explores this problem and gives some parenting strategies that will increase your kid’s ability to hear you and understand.
One of the problems is different communication styles and abilities. Children have a very small attention span and parents have a tendency to talk too much and to lecture you. Put these two facts together and you can appreciate why children do not listen.

Firstly it is important to get down to the level of the child. It’s a lot harder to ignore somebody who is right in your face. If you have something important to communicate is necessary to get down to the level of the child This might mean that you need to bend down or alternatively pick them up.

Change the way you talk to your child. Most parents used to many words and the child loses focus Decide what you want to say ahead of time and then say it in simple words. After giving the instructions just keep quiet.

Asked the child to repeat to you the instruction tell me what I said to you in after the child has repeated it just carry on what you were doing and let the child do what you ask them to do.

It is important for this interaction that you keep calm and clear. There is no need to threaten or yell, talk to them in a clear, calm voice.

Think about the way you generally communicate with the child. You certainly don’t go to these extreme lengths when you say good morning or are you hungry. Remember that is important to have communication that is also fun. Don’t have every communication with your child that is action focused or serious. Keep this kind of interaction for when it really matters or when you know that they’re not paying attention.

Fleurville Backpacks Are a Refreshing Break

Fleurville bags offer one of my favorite layouts for a diaper bag, the backpack bag. Although I appreciate the over the shoulder and the handbag, I also appreciate the design engineering that the Fleurville diaper bags offer. Plus, it is refreshing to see a line with this style, especially as a male who prefers a pack to a tote. The monostrapped and unisex backpacks keep both of your hands and arms free, which as many parents know, is priceless. Plus they offer the same luxuries as other brands, but in my opinion, without all the flash. In the end, Fleurville offers a reasonably priced bag, and a whole lot of features, which keeps dads and moms smiling.

Practical Toddler Guide: Coping With The Fussy Eater

Toddlers can be fussy eaters who refuse to try a new food more than half the time. Approximately half of all young children fit this description, so it is no surprise that food issues are a major source of parenting stress.

Establishing healthy eating habits is essential to avoid problems such as eating disorders and obesity later in life. Various strategies can assist your child accept a wider range of foods. It may be necessary to offer a food to your child as many as 10 different times before they decide to eat it. The problem is, many moms and dads get frustrated and give up before the fourth or fifth attempt.

Try to make foods fun. Colorful foods like carrot sticks, raisins, apples, grapes, crackers and cheese sticks can all be fun and healthy choices for your growing toddler. Explain to them that eating good food is important so they’ll grow big and strong, and how it will assist them to run faster and play longer.

Children learn behaviors from their parents. If you restrict yourself to a small range of foods, your toddler will take notice and mimic your caution. Don’t restrict your toddler’s food variety to only those foods you prefer. It may be that your toddler’s tastes are different to yours, and perhaps you are simply serving them foods they don’t happen to like. Try to set a good example and try a variety of foods in front of your toddler. It could motivate them to do the same.

If your toddler seems healthy and energetic, then they are eating enough. If you are still worried, keep an eye on how much food they actually eat over the day. Children tend to graze constantly, rather than restrict their eating to three meals a day like adults. You may be surprised how those little handfuls and snacks add up. For further reassurance, check your toddler’s growth and weight charts, or check with your child’s pediatrician.
Try not to worry, and remember, that unless a child is umwell, they will eat. Children are very good at judging their hunger and fullness signals. Try to stay relaxed about mealtime and offer your toddler a wide variety of foods, and most importantly, remember to set a good example by trying a wide variety of foods yourself. You may discover you and your child share a new found favorite food!

How I Get My Kids Away From The Television}

All my kids talk about getting every year for Christmas is video games if they don’t go downstairs and find Gears of War 2 under our new white flocked christmas tree I do not know how they will survive. This drives me a little crazy since I like to encourage my kids to go outside. I would much rather give them a pair of new skates or golf clubs then some mind numbing thing that will enchant them in front of the television. Alas, I suppose boys will be boys. Arguing with the boys over “appropriate” lengths of time is just too much work.

After saying that I guess I should get to the point that I’ve developed a few ways to control their television addiction. I do a couple of things in an effort to force them outside. First off I limit their time every day to one hour (they can earn more). I find placing a limit is important because then they know that anything above that is a privilege. To be more fair I’ve allowed them some methods of earning more television time. That leads me to talk about trick number two. They can get more television time by either doing chores or spending time outside. I like the chores option because it is nice for me to have a few less things to do, and the reward for them isn’t bad either. I set it up so it ends with one hour of chores earning one hour of television time.

The number two way they get more television time is by spending some of their time outside. When they go outside and play nice I allow them 15 minutes of gaming to every hour of outside time. I know that it isn’t a huge payoff for the boys, but they like being outside and I do not think it’s a lot for me to ask of them. That option works the best of their long Saturdays where they spend the majority of the day outside anyway. They spend all day outside on Saturdays and earn themselves a couple of hours in front of the television. Realistically a night of playing games and watching movies isn’t so bad after a full day outside.

That being said I’m ok with one or two ending up under flocked christmas tree this year , that is if it allows for the positives of getting the boys outside and making them a little more obedient. They had better like the games they’re getting, because I know I’ll like my “gift” of one more thing to use “against” my boys.

Practical Good Parenting Advice: Childhood Obesity

As if there are not enough issues to worry about with your children, there is the concern of children putting on too much weight. There seems to be two main extremes with parents when it comes to this sensitive subject. There are the parents who put a lot of stress on their kids to stay thin and then there are the parents who could not care less how much their daughter or son weighs as they think it is all just innocent baby fat. Both extremes are equally dangerous and both are some of the causes of childhood obesity.

If too much pressure is put on a child to be a certain weight or to look a certain way, the opposite of what the parent is trying to achieve may occur. Kids who have a lot of pressure about food may end up eating too much in order to be emotionally content which is one of the causes of childhood obesity. Kids who are allowed to pick and eat absolutely whatever they please are also one of the causes of childhood obesity. And then of course there are the children who suffer from extra weight and they appear to eat a standard and pretty healthy diet.

Setting A Good Example
When it comes to young children, parents should never really be using the word diet around them because of the emotional and long lasting effect it can have on the child. Instead, simply adjust what groceries you buy and what you prepare for dinner. Make sure that there are only healthy snacks in the house in order to monitor what it is that your daughter or son is eating. If you fear that the child will not eat the healthier food, rest assure that if he or she gets hungry enough they will eat it. In the end, you are the adult in the relationship and it is your decision on what they do or do not eat.

Another good thing to do is to lead by example so make sure that you are not stuffing your face with a donut while insisting that they can only have a pear. Families that eat well together and exercise together are families that stay healthy together. Parents who do not get involved in the lives of their children are one of the major causes of childhood obesity. In order to end this trend all parents have to step up to the mark and take action so that our future adults will be strong, happy and healthy.

Parenting Problems - Truth About Parenting Problems

Dealing with a parenting problem needs to be addressed on different levels. Not all parenting problems can be put in the same basket but one thing they have in common is the solution is never immediate.

Reacting on impulse as a solution is never a smart thing. Tackling each problem on it’s merits is a good start. There are various stages in a child’s life where they are going to run into problems simply because of growing up. It may be school work, peer pressure, eating problems, relationship issues…there is any number of situations children will face which will present you with a parenting problem.

So how do you react? Seeking solutions today seems a heck of a lot easier than it was even two decades ago. In fact, the benefit of living in the 21st century and dealing with a parenting problem is you can now remain anonymous. And the internet has given us the opportunity too.

But by the same token, it may not be the ideal situation simply because you are dealing with advice in cyber space and have no idea who or where the advice is coming from. Many parenting solution organizations are now online and the best advice you can get is to stick with the ones you know rather than getting on many of the forums and trying to read between the lines.

Children’s Issues

Here’s a parenting problems or two which you may resonate with:

- getting your child to clean their room
- improving your child’s habits around the home
- getting your child to spend more time away from the television or computer
- picking up bad or even deadly habits such as drugs
- eating disorders or simply trying to get them to eat right
- school work issues and getting your child to study

Three Parenting Problem Solution Points

A problem isn’t one until you recognize it. Until you admit to yourself there is an issue finding a solution is pointless. So let’s take a look at some avenues you can pursue to find help with your parenting problem:

1. Finding suitable reference points online. There are also chat room on these sites where you can interact with real parents who have encountered similar problems and can share with you what worked for them

2. Referring to books and again, online is an easy way to get hold of books without asking for help in person if you want to remain anonymous. In the area too you can find books on almost any subject with great advice and solutions.

3. There is always professional help available if you consider you need to seek some. Locally, your city council will have a list of areas you can refer to and it’s important to choose the right solution center.

Some parental problems may be solved right away while some may take a lot longer or may need to try many different approaches to get to the bottom of it; where as some may require constant working on it for long periods of time; whatever the case, recognizing a parenting issue and working on it for as long as it takes is the only way to deal with it.

Internet Worries For Parents

The Internet is an important invention for the world and one that our children are very eager to take advantage off. However there are certain dangers with this, if you understand the online dangers to your children, you can then protect them from falling prey to schemes, traps, scams, and dangerous people lurking beyond the anonymity.

Internet Monitoring

Social networking websites are becoming more and more popular among children of all ages. Consider the information on a child’s social networking profile. Do you want people to see half naked pictures of your child? Do you want teachers or potential employers to see your child half-naked? This leads to one of the more serious and heartbreaking dangers online, the threat from paedophiles and other people who want to hurt or take advantage of children online. Because you can’t see the people talking to your child in chat rooms, via instant messaging systems, or through social networking websites, you can not be sure what they look like. A lot of men and women use the Internet as a way to coax children out to meet them. If your child has photographs of themselves on the Internet, then adult males and females may use this for less than innocent purposes.

It is important you monitor the messaging programs your child is using. This is how children communicate with one another, even more so than mobile phone messages these days! You need to keep on eye on this. You don’t want to think your child is doing their homework only to see they’re exchanging dodgy images or shady MP3s. Many children use the Internet as a way of picking on other children, and you do not want to find out that your child has been bullied or is bullying other kids via instant chat and the internet.

Do not think for a moment that identity theft can’t happen to a child. This can affect anyone on the Internet. All it takes is for a child to give their personal information to the wrong person. It can ruin a child’s credit (before they’ve even got started in life) and can be complicated if someone starts breaking the law using your child’s name (i.e. hacking into places using your child’s email account). Likewise, if your child gives out their details, it could put you and your family at risk of theft or worse.

One final point to think about is the amount of time that your child spends using the computer. This is worth keeping an eye on. You do not want their whole social world to exist on the Internet. Besides being called a nerd this can lead to isolation and depression, especially to those children already lacking social confidence. A healthy life is about balance and you need to make sure that you’re not letting your children live their whole lives in cyberspace!

Assault On A School Bus Leave Young Girl Traumatized And Injured

Hello Everyone,

I would like to discuss an article I read that was a little disturbing . Some people feel it is an extreme case but I feel it is a great example of how pepper spray should be a means of defense for adults .

It was about a school bus full of children on their way to school. One of the kids on the bus was known as a very bad bully . His victims were normally children around the age of 10 . And worse yet this kid was 17 years old and was in the 11th grade .

Somehow this student had acquired a bottle of Mace Pepper Spray Well, on October 25th during the bus ride to school he decided to bully a nine year old girl. He demanded she give him her lunch money. When she refused to do it and pulled out a bottle of Pepper Spray and proceeded to spray a continuous stream into this little girls face to the point where she could not breath.

Many other children on the bus were also unable to breath do it being a small enclosed space.

Under normal circumstances only a 2-3 second burst of pepper spray is used and that is more than enough. This kid depressed that button and never took his finger off it . Many other students tried to stop him but he sprayed them and fought them off.

When the bus driver realized what was taking place he stopped the bus and managed to break up the situation. The effects on several students including the little girl was extremely severe. The pepper spray badly affected several students on the bus including the little girl. Three of them had to be taken by ambulance to the hospital due to severe injuries caused by the pepper spray.

It is safe to say I was very disturbed when I read this story . It is becoming more and more popular for parents to get younger children pepper spray. I’m not saying the parents of this teenage boy had bought it for him, that was not mentioned in the article.

I personally feel in some cases pepper spray can be of a great benefit to children, but there are many things to be considered before getting your child pepper spray . You need to know you kids. You want to make sure they are responsible enough to only use it if it is absolutely necessary.

You also wants to make sure they are old enough to take that responsibility. I would not recommend giving pepper spray to anyone under the age of 16.

If any of you out there have younger children I think the best bet is to get them a Personal Alarm. They can keep it on their keyring and if anything goes wrong they just set it off and it will alert someone that there is an issue.

So the moral is judge your children and really consider it before you give the young ones pepper spray.
