Disneyland Vacations Suitable For Toddlers: Essential Tips

Disneyland was designed for kids of all ages – and toddlers are no exception! There are many things that you can enjoy with your toddler – so many things in fact, that unless you will be staying for several days, you won’t have time to do them all.

Start with Toon Town. Here is where you will find your toddler’s favorite Disney Characters, including Mickey and Minnie Mouse. All of the Characters have homes in Toon Town, full of things that will amaze your toddler, and make them laugh.

Your toddler will certainly like the Disneyland Railroad. This is a great way to get around the park, because there are stations in New Orleans Square, Toon Town, Tomorrowland, and on Main Street. This will amuse your toddler, and give you a chance to see some sights and rest a bit.

Its A Small World is very suitable for toddlers. Music and colors will keep your child mesmerized while you enjoy a relaxing ride across the water. The Storybook Land Canal Boats is another good choice, as it will take you through the miniature villages that your daughter or sonwill be quite familiar with from their story books.

Rides that you and your toddler must not miss include all of the rides in Fantasyland, King Arthur’s Carousel, Dumbo the Flying Elephant, the Circus Train, and the Mad Tea Party. Rides that are appropriate for youngsters, but that may cause a little fear are the rides that are dark. These include Peter Pan’s Flight, Pinocchio’s Daring Journey, Alice in Wonderland, and Snow White’s Scary Adventure. Buzz Lightyear is a popular ride for all toddlers.

There are other areas of the park that have attractions and rides that are appropriate for toddlers. Remember that Disneyland is a place for kids of all ages. Pay close attention to the height and age requirements for each attraction, and avoid taking your toddler to rides that they will not be able to enjoy. This will only cause your child disappointment.

Stick to the areas where the toddler appropriate attractions are located as much as possible. As an adult, you realize that some rides are simply not safe for small people – but your small person will not comprehend this! Your Disneyland vacation should
be enjoyable for everyone, and Disneyland has made sure that there is something for everyone at the park. It is up to you to keep your daughter or son happy, and to keep them interested in the rides and attractions that they are meant to enjoy.

And wouldn’t it be great if your toddler was potty trained before that vacation. Discover the best methods

After School Programs: Pick Very Carefully

When my mom finally decided to take that plum posting as a Divisional Head, I knew I was in trouble. Her office hours stretched way beyond my school hours. And anyway, I was privy to the many discussions my parents had about ‘Honey, what do we do with the kids?’ Well, finally they struck gold - an educational after school program. Won’t that be just grand? Children are learning new things while parents are happily earning the dollars!

And so, we went directly to another class after our school. The brochure said that they would be ‘using fun activities and innovative teaching methods to fill the gap in your child’s understanding’. I suppose they meant that the teacher would write down the homework and we were to copy it. At least, this is what happened most of the time. Of course, we didn’t tell our parents. How would that help? They’d simply get smart and shift us to a class that would actually make us solve our homework.

I hated the classes. Mostly, I was bored to tears or falling asleep. After so many hours at school who’d want to spend the entire afternoon with the same books? But, as a child, one had little choice in these matters. Especially when your parents were cleverly telling you that mom’s salary will help get us that new TV or that video game. Lose some, win some!

Then, one day, my sister decided to rock the proverbial boat. She decided she had enough of studying and refused to go to the after school program. That’s when my parents began to smell something stale. Shortly after that, they put us in a better program (yes, another educational one). This was bigger, brighter and somehow more fun. We had some interesting games, and a COMPUTER too. Each of us got a chance to do something on the PC (this, when PCs were just beginning to make their presence felt). We somehow managed to blaze through our homework, most of which had to be done by us. Then it was time to have fun. We had a little bit of everything. Acting classes, speech, games and of course painting.

Those hours we spent splashing color on pages and laughing at silly jokes were really the highlight of an otherwise boring day. Ironically, I began to look forward to my after school program.

Now, so many years afterward, when I need to take up a job and leave my own daughter alone till I get back, I know how important these after school programs have become. Talk about history repeating itself! I just hope I’d
get her into a good one, and yes, it’s going to be educational too. And, of course, I hope she will be able to confide in me her true thoughts about her after school program.

And why not find time to have a shared hobby with your child. Face painting is quite easy to learn and great fun. And think how useful it will be come Halloween or at birthday parties etc. Learn more

Boo Activities: Great Halloween Tips

If you would like to get your neighbors into the Halloween spirit, why not engage them in a little game known as “Boo!” It’s a popular game in some parts of the country, while in others, nobody has heard of it.

You might live in a neighborhood where you think nobody will participate in a round robin type of event as this, but you might be surprised. Sometimes during the holidays people will step up and get involved where before they wouldn’t. It’s possible, anyway.

The game goes something like this, and then will be described in more detail later. You print up a few poems and instructions on colorful paper (likely, orange). You get a treat bucket, or bowl or something and fill it with candy. You can also “Boo” people with candles, Halloween socks, and really whatever your imagination comes up with. You “Boo” two people at a time, leaving the items anonymously on their doorstep. You leave it with the instructions and the poem and hope they “Boo” other neighbors. Once you are done, you tape up a large “Boo!” on your door so neighbors know not to hit you up again.

Specifically, here’s how it’s done. Start this game around the very end of September or very beginning of October. If you waitt until everyone is decorated for Halloween, you’re probably too late. You want this to spread around the neighborhood and that takes time, so you want to start it just as people are starting to think about Halloween. If you begin too early, however, you might be out of luck as far as being able to buy items goes.

So, if it’s the right time of the year and you’re ready to go. Find a “Boo” poem and photocopy it. There are many variations of the poem. Here is a sampling:

“Boo!
To our good friends on the street;
Our homes’ locations made us meet;
You now have been Boo’d, but who would we be?
We’ll never tell, it’s a secret, you see.
We placed these goodies for you and yours;
Then we ran fast, after knocking the door!
Happy Halloween!”

Or it might be a big longer, something like this:

“The air is cool, the season fall
Soon Halloween will come to all;
The neighbors are after things to do
In fact, a neighbor brought this to you;
“Boo” is a sign of friendship power
Just hang it up and watch it double by hour;
On your front door is where it works
It wards off solicitors and scary jerks;
The treat that came with friendly note
Are yours to keep; enjoy them both;
The power comes when friends like you
Copy this and make it two;
Then others here among our friends
Will give warm fuzzies that will not end;
We’ll all have smiles upon our face
No one will know who “boo’ed” whose place;
Just one short day to share your Boo
You must be quick so they don’t know who;
And don’t forget a nifty treat
Like something cute or something sweet;
Please join the fun, let’s really hear it
And spread some “Boos” and neighborhood spirit!

Be sure to include a cute graphic of a ghost or something else that looks like it might say “Boo!” You might want to include some details on the flyer about what should be done next, in case you think the poem itself won’t be clear enough. Then attach the poem to the goodie bag, basket, whatever you have created, and run out one night dropping your goodies on people’s doorsteps. If you are just getting this started in your neighborhood, be sure to do more than 2 houses. You might find that some people don’t participate and in that case, you want to have “Boo”ed enough people that you will get adequate participation.

We really like to get into the spirit of it by having our faces painted. A ghost design is always popular. learning to face paint is not as difficult as you might think. These articles will help you learn more

What you’re striving for is a neighborhood full of “Boo” doors by Halloween night!

Essential Parent Guide: Tactics For Tackling A Toddler’s Temper Tantrum

Even the best behaved toddler will have an occasional temper tantrum. A tantrum can range from whining and crying to screaming, kicking, hitting, and breath holding. They’re equally common in boys and girls and usually occur from age 1 to age 3.

Some kids may experience regular tantrums, whereas for other kids, tantrums may be rare. Some kids are more prone to throwing a temper tantrum than others.
Toddlers are trying to master the world and when they aren’t able to accomplish a task, they often use one of the only tools at their disposal for venting frustration - a tantrum. There are several basic causes of tantrums that are familiar to parents everywhere: The child is seeking attention or is tired, hungry, or uncomfortable. In addition, tantrums are often the result of kids’s frustration with the world.

Frustration is an unavoidable part of childrens’ lives as they learn how people, objects, and their own bodies work.
Tantrums are common during the second year of life, a time when kids are acquiring language. Toddlers generally understand more than they can express. As language skills improve, tantrums tend to decrease.

Keep off-limits objects out of sight and out of reach, which will make struggles less likely to develop over them. Distract your child. Take advantage of your little one’s short attention span by offering a replacement for the coveted object or beginning a new activity to replace the frustrating or forbidden one. And pick your battles: think about the request carefully when your child wants something. Is it outrageous? Maybe it isn’t. Accommodate when possible to avoid an outburst.

Make sure your child isn’t acting up simply because he or she isn’t getting enough attention. To a child, negative attention (a parent’s response to a tantrum) is better than no attention at all. Try to establish a habit of catching your child being good (”time in”), which means rewarding your little one with attention and praise for positive behaviour. This will teach them that acting appropriately makes mommy and daddy happy and proud, and they’ll be anxious to do it again and again.

Potty training is a stage of child development that many parents dread. Often it is because their own parents pass on tales of woe about their experiences of toilet training. But, things have changed. There is so much knowledge about how children develop that you can put that to your advantage. For stress free toilet training, why not follow a program. Discover more

Reverse Cell Phone Lookup - Why And When Would I Call For This Assistance?

What is remarkable is that many years ago, we had no idea who was calling us and we just answered the phone and it didn’t worry us at all. Today, we see that number appear on our cells and we right away want to do a free reverse cell phone lookup. We all do it and can all comprehend why we do. There are so many situations that could be a peril to ourselves and our families that we just don’t want to take the chance.

But exactly what is a free reverse cell phone lookup is when you have a person’s phone number and you want to know who they are, what there name is and where they are telephoning from and you get it for free. A lot of times, a reverse cell phone lookup can answer a lot of questions about why a specific number is calling and not leaving a message. It can also answer some questions as to why that person is even telephoning your spouse, child, loved one, place of business and on and on.

Your teen daughter dashes into her bedroom when the cell rings. You knock on the door. She is whispering. Then you observe her sneaking out of the house way after her curfew. It’s too late. You couldn’t stop her. But she forgot her cell phone. This is a perfect time to do a reverse cell phone lookup. If she’s got a Verizon phone then do one on their site and if it’s a Cingular then do one on their site. No matter what phone your kids have, you can always do a reverse cell phone lookup and be able to sleep better at night!

Another frequently asked question when dealing with this topic is; how exactly do you find a free reverse cell phone lookup and what does that even mean? For those of you that have no answer, it is when you have somebody call you with your cell phone number but you don’t know who it is. Then you go to a major search engine to discover the name associated with the cell phone number. Sounds effortless enough doesn’t it? But does it truly work? Now there is a loaded question if I ever listened to one! But don’t stop reading now. As with anything else, things seem so simple and it seems like your answer is at your fingertips, but it’s just not the case.

So, the question really is: is there truly any such a thing as a free reverse cell phone lookup? Yes and no. Okay, now I’ve lost you. As we said, if you go to a search engine such as Yahoo or Google or any of your preferred search engines, you can type in the browser the cell phone number and then hit enter. Your best bet is to put the entire phone number in quotation marks (“123-456-7899”) so that the exact number comes up with the digits in that exact order.

Older Genealogists Hate Free Genealogy Sites

In the old days, before these new fangled computers and Googles and all, we had to trace our ancestry the REAL way. The real hard way – the way it should be! If you really want to know about your ancestors and make a ancestry research, well it should take you years of going through dusty court rooms and pressing rubbings on tombstones and travel with your feet and your books and not with all this clickety-clickety. Why, where’s the adventure in these free genealogy sites? Where’s the thrill of the hunt, I ask you? In my day, you had to be made of certain stuff to find anything on any member of your roots. Now any old fold and his brother can go to free genealogy sites and get the whole thing done for them. And they call this progress. HAH!

The Times They Are A-Changin’

It seems to be one of the instinctive questions we all need answering – “Where did I come from?” Part of discovering this answer is finding out your family history. Unless your family is incredibly rich and/or powerful, no one but your family is going to keep the old family stories alive. One of the places modern genealogists can use is free genealogy sites on the Internet.

Free genealogy sites are free mainly because they have ads around them. You get used to them, as you do with ads on the radio or television. Free genealogy sites are things our ancestors would’ve killed for, so honor your ancestors by not complaining about the ads. And take a peek at your family or your mother’s family or your adoptive parents’ family through free genealogy sites.

What They Use

Free genealogy sites are huge libraries of information that is being added to all of the time. Many have a lot of information from volunteers or genealogists. But a lot of the information on free genealogy sites are public records – the kind that are usually locked away in little town court houses that only are open to the public three days out of the year. Public records chronicle briefly the very dramatic events in your ancestors’ lives:

Marriage certificates
Birth records
Death certificates
Any property information or deeds
Legal transactions
Census records
Public phone books
Ellis Island passenger lists
With free genealogy sites, it’s now easier than ever to find out about your family tree genealogy. This is good news … for most people.

For Storksak Designer Bags, Luxury And Utility Go Hand In Hand

Celebrity diaper bags are sometimes called into question by my blogging comrades as having too much style and not enough toughness.But these diaper bags are popular for more reasons than Brad Pitt. Actually, Storksak diaper bags are designed for working parents, so their bags are not simply pretty little purses, but functional multi-purpose organizers.

For instance, many Storksak bags come with a separate compartment that fits most laptop computers. This feature is perfect for working moms-on-the-go who not only are parenting their baby but heading into a busy day of work and errands as well. As many Fortune 500 companies now offer daycare, these multipurpose bags are the answer for corporate life parenting. Also, dads who want to help with carrying parenting gear now have options for diaper bags that are masculine and stylish.

Indeed, Brad Pitt was seen in Paris last year with his favorite Storksak bag: the Jamie Diaper Bag. This sleek messenger bag is black leather, and comes with insulated pouches that keep liquids hot or cold for up to 5 hours. Storksak’s men’s diaper bags also have waterproof linings for those unfortunate spills and can wipe clean easily. The bag also doubles as a laptop bag - nobody will know its intended purpose!

These diaper bag by Storksak definitely changed my mind about the toughness of celebrity bags! Storksak diaper bags make this choice a little easier for working moms, and dads too.

Productive And Positive Potty Training: Essential Family Info

Your child’s showing all the signs of being ready to potty train. That’s great! But now, where do you start?
Explain to your toddler that going potty is a normal process of life and everyone does it, even animals. Talk with them about the toilet, a special place where they can potty just like the big kids. Tell him how the potty works and let him try flushing himself. Explain that they will be wearing underwear and not diapers. Find some educational and entertaining videos of their favorite characters learning to go potty. Be sure to involve other family members in the process and emphasize the importance of consistency during this process. This all happens before you even start to use the potty.

Make a special trip to the store and purchase new underwear with your toddler. You must make this shopping trip an adventure – put some excitement into it. Let them have a voice in what you get. The underwear will have much more significance if your toddler helped pick them.

You could even potty train an anatomically correct doll to show your toddler how it’s done. Of course the doll gets praised when it uses the potty. Perhaps even a party!

Overalls, pants with lots of buttons, snaps or zips, tight or restrictive clothing and oversized shirts will all be an obstacle to your child during this process. Put these kinds of clothes away for the time being.

Decide whether or not you’re going to use pull-ups, training pants or regular underwear and try to stick with this decision so your child has consistency and isn’t confused. Think about whether or not you want to use rewards or not. Figure out a strategy on how to handle potty issues when you’re away from home.

If your child is in child care, ask your provider for their advice and make sure there aren’t any hard and fast rules the center or caregiver has in place that may be an issue. Let them know that you’re going to start and enlist their help with the process.

Praise your child for each successful trip to the potty, and comfort them when accidents happen and try to remain patient and calm when they do. Avoid using candy or other treats as reinforcement. Let them know that it will take a while to get the hang of using the potty, and encourage and praise each attempt they make.

With consistency, encouragement and praise, they’ll soon be completely trained if you follow a toilet training strategy. Find out more

Popular Backyard Activities For All The Family: Essential Family Advice

One activity that everyone enjoys is eating outdoors. Whether it be breakfast, lunch, or dinner, you may want to consider having your next meal outside. If you have a barbeque grill, you and your family may enjoy having tasty food that was prepared on the grill. If you do not have a grill, but are interested in buying one, you have a number of options. A large number of retail stores, both on and offline, carry a fairly large selection of barbeque grills. Charcoal grills are a cheap way to cook; many can sell for as low as twenty or thirty dollars.

In addition to having a backyard barbeque, your family may also enjoy a backyard picnic. Backyard picnics are often easier to prepare than most barbequed meals. If you wish, you could easily prepare all of your food inside. Popular picnic foods may include, but should not be limited to, sandwiches, subs, coleslaw, salads, crackers, cookies, and pretzels. If the weather is warm, you may also want to make sure that you include extra water. Water, especially during hot weather, is vital for hydration.

While eating outdoors is a great way to spend time in your backyard, it will only take a few hours. If you are interested in spending the whole day in your backyard, you will want to find other backyard activities. One of those activities is likely to include swimming. Swimming is a favorite summer pastime, for individuals of all ages. The only downside to swimming is that you must have a swimming pool. If you do not have a swimming pool and cannot afford to buy one, do not worry. There are literally an unlimited number of other backyard activities that your whole family could enjoy, even without a pool.

Other popular backyard activities involve the playing of sports games or water games. Water games, like many other backyard games, are ideal for individuals of all ages. To cool off or just participate in a family fun activity, you can purchase a water sprinkler, water balloons, or water guns. Many of these items can be purchased for an affordable price at most, on and offline, retailers.

If sports are more your family’s style, you may want to consider purchasing a volleyball net or a basketball hoop. While a basketball hoop or a volleyball net may be an expensive purchase, it is likely that you and your children will enjoy them on more than one occasion. If you are concerned with the cost of a basketball hoop, volleyball net, or other sports equipment, you can purchase cheaper alternatives. Other popular sports games, which do not require the purchase of expensive equipment, may include kickball or softball.

Spending the day in your backyard is a great to not only have fun, but to spend quality time with your family. A backyard campout may be the perfect end to the perfect day. And why not have your face painted as part of the fun. It’s easy to learn and with step by step instructions you can create many designs. Discover more

Backyard camping is great, especially if you have small children. Not only may they enjoy the new experience, but you will also be close to you home if something goes wrong. For a reasonable price, if you don’t already have one, you should be able to buy a tent and other camping supplies.

As you can see, there are a large number of backyard activities that your whole family may be able to enjoy. In fact, the above mentioned activities are just a few of the many that are available. For additional activities, you may want to ask the rest of your family for suggestions. It is possible that they may alert you to a fun backyard activity that you never even heard of before.
