The Video Music Awards on MTV have created a lot of controversy over the past week. The excitement was not over the awards or the videos, but rather it was about the obnoxious behavior of the VMA’s host, Russel Brand.

Russel Brand, who gets by as a British standup comic and radio/TV host, came to the United States to host the awards and made some very controversial comments. First, he made a blatant political endorsement for Barrack Obama. He pleaded with Americans to vote for Barack Obama and ridiculed George W. Bush and called him a “retarded cowboy” who, in Britain wouldn’t be trusted with a pair of scissors.
While these are some very obnoxious comments, they get worse. Who does he think he is to come over from the U.K. and to tell us how to vote or what gives him the right to mock our president? He really should have stuck to talking about music videos and left politics alone.
The worst was yet to come. Brand continuously ridiculed the Jonas Brothers’ for their virginity pledges and teased them for wearing their purity rings. How can MTV pay this guy to come over here and mock the Christian faith of the Jonas Brothers’ who choose to walk the walk and are actually a good role model for their fans? Brand then went on to make fun of Republican vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palins daughter, Bristol Palin and her fiancé about the teen’s pregnancy.
