Survival Gear
Life is an unpredictable entity. It takes us by surprise, comes at us fast, and doesn’t offer any mercy. Should it? If it did, we’d all have to wonder if we lived in some sort of utopia, which we don’t. I don’t believe anyone is watching out for my well-being, but myself. But, I do believe every human being was granted with something called intuition. This is your survival signal. It’s innate and it’s there to do nothing but protect you. You’d be wise to listen to it. I doubt it will steer you wrong. When things get hairy, you have to do what it takes. Regardless of if you’re stuck in the woods, about to face a tornado, or in a physical confrontation. Your intuition, along with a few survival supplies can get you out of it.
When most people think survival supplies, they probably ponder food stored in their basement in case of a tornado, first aid kits that go in their backpacks on hiking trips, or maybe blankets, flashlights and fire-starters in the trunk of their car. These are all important and handy survival supplies. I recommend them to everyone. Furthermore, I recommend a device for self-defense. There are quite a variety of these on the market now days. Take your pick from hand guns, to knives, to impact flashlights, to stun guns, to pepper spray. All can be very effective in the right situation. Personally I prefer a compact knife and a Surefire E2 Defender flashlight. I call these my personal survival supplies. They go everywhere I go. Now you may be thinking that a knife is far too violent for self-defense applications. This is a valid point, sometimes. Every situation is different and calls for different measures. If you’re strolling to your car in a shopping center parking lot and four men attack you and your child, is a knife still too drastic, or do you put your child’s safety first? No offense to the police, but it’s doubtful they will show up before the crime has already taken place. This may be far too late. An impact flashlight is also useful for self-defense for more than obvious reasons. The bright light can be used to stun assailants and distort their vision, allowing you to get away. I recommend Surefire for these.
There is a grand world of survival supplies out there. Some of the best ones are on the web, so surf websites like Tadgear.com and Bluelinegear.com. You’ll like what you find. One thing I’ve learned in this world is that it pays to be prepared. Are you?
