If you decide you do want to go to college, there is a lot of preparation that needs to be done while still in high school. Most high schools will assist you with signing up for these standardized tests and may even offer prep courses so you walk into the test confident and ready. The standardized testing companies will usually let you choose a few universities that they will send your results to for free. With the application process, there is a lot to consider as well. Consider applying online because most schools offer a free option online. Visiting the schools you are applying to is very important as well; then you can attempt to have some actual face time with an advisor at the school. The most difficult part once your applications are submitted is waiting for responses.

No matter which path you decide to take, what makes you happiest should be your first concern. Just because everyone in your family has studied a certain subject or worked in a certain field, does not mean you have to follow the legacy. It is easier to be aware of what you really want to do early, than to have to reconsider your choice once you are working in the field.
