Overview of beer making

The process of beer making involves cooking of the necessary ingredients. It is through the variety of ingredients that you get each unique flavor of beer.

Beer has four ingredients - water, malt, hops and yeast. All of these ingredients are readily available due to the popularity of home brewing.

One important procedure is to filter the water ingredient properly in order to achieve the best taste possible. The malt is actually malted barley. It has been processed to allow for the sugars and starched needed to trigger the beer fermentation. Hops are actually flower cones which act as beer flavoring agent. Hops also balance the sweetness and bitterness of the beer. Yeast is the main ingredient that causes transforms all the necessary ingredients into a good tasting beer. It is the main catalyst in the process of fermentation.

The ingredients are mixed, cooked and then allowed to mature to end up as beer.

Process

One good way to produce a home made beer is thru the use of a kit. Kits for this purpose are easily sourced out and come very affordable. The same kit can be utilized multiple times in producing your home made beer.

If all the ingredients are ready and your kit is available, you can start brewing your beer. The process begins with mixing the malt and water and boiling them for about 20 minutes. The hops should be steeped for 30 minutes and then blended with the malt and water mixture. It is important to keep stirring the mix to avoid burning. Once the main process is completed, let the mixture to cool.

The fermented product should be prepared by filling half way with water. Meanwhile the yeast needs to be prepared by mixing it with lukewarm water. It should be properly wrapped and let sit. This paves the way for the yeast to start the process of rehydration.

The mixture of hops, malt and water should be put into the glass carboy. Fill the fermenter in full with cold water and allow to reach 75 degrees. In this stage, add the yeast ingredient.

Allowing the brew to sit and ferment then yields a flavored beer. And that is all there is to making beer at home.
